Some teams come together under stress; some fall apart.
In a feature story in the Halifax Chronicle Herald I had an opportunity to talk about the potential of workplace civility to address job burnout.
Civility works as a buffer.
Teams will continue to encounter demands, stresses, and strains. In the contemporary work world, no one can count on an easy time of it.
• When the team lacks civility among its members, those strains translated directly into increased burnout.
• When a team has a civil, respectful culture, it buffers the impact of the strains, reducing their potential to burn people out.
Good working relationships make a difference.
